St Wilfrid Festival - Christian Forshaw & Sanctuary Ensemble

Saxophonist Christian Forshaw sees playing at his home Cathedral at Ripon as a real honour. He is making a return visit to Yorkshire with the Sanctuary Ensemble, which is a unique collaboration of saxophone, organ, voice and percussion established by him in 1996. Hosted by the Rotary Club of Ripon, the concert is being held to raise funds for three local charities; the League of Friends of Ripon and Harrogate Hospitals, Jennyruth Workshops and Yorkshire Cancer Research.

The concert will also feature Grace Davidson who was a soloist on BBC TV's 'Sacred Music' series. Nina Large writing in the Times Classical Music magazine found that 'Forshaw's saxophone takes on a wild, soaring freedom that interjects the crystal soprano of Grace Davidson, creating something entirely original and honest'.
